How to become a better version of yourself.

So, it’s been a while since I have sat down to share my thoughts with you all. There has been so much going on in the world, and so many changes with myself (positive changes, in my regards). l’d like to stick to the positive in this blog and fill you guys in on what’s been going on with me.

Firstly, I have completely changed my diet from being  a Fried chicken crunching, BBQ rib sucking, Pork chop chomping, Seafood loving Carnivore; to an all Plant Based diet! :O Although I have always sustained a curiosity for people who were Vegan and Vegetarian, I don’t think I ever expected myself to actually do it, but I did. As a kid I never really loved vegetables and as an adult the desire for them (or lack there of) didn’t really get any better. I ate the bare minimum when it came to vegetables just to make myself feel as if I was doing something good for my body, but sadly not nearly enough to be considered the recommended daily amount. So why switch it up now???

My family history, that’s why. I started to really pay attention to my family history and the things that my loved ones around me had been struggling with. The older you get, the wiser you become(or at least that is what should happen). When you are a kid, you are not living in consideration for what may happen to you if you eat to much sugar, or too much fried foods, or an excess of sodium. But for me, the older I become, I have noticed that there are two very different groups of people in this world, those who age with grace, who experience very little pain, little to no health problem, very energetic,  and whose age you would never be able to guess, and those who age with many complications, who are bound by an immense amount daily medications , can barely stand up on there own, inflammation, weight issues, and the list goes on and on.

I have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease which all run in my family, majority on both sides. Besides that fact, I was born a very big baby, weighing in at a little over 11 pounds, (I know, I was huge, lol)) which apparently (according to my childhood doctor) puts me at an even  greater risk for contracting any of  previously aforementioned ailments . With all of that being said, now that I am in my 30’s, I want to take the initiative to do something great for my body. I want to slow down the aging process, rather than speed it up. I want to nourish my body, (not just feed my body) with foods that will benefit me and help me to fight off diseases rather than cause them. I may be genetically predisposed to a lot, but, by making the educated choice to eat in a way that will help my body to remain alkaline, I will greatly decrease my chances of ever having to deal with those aliments as I get older.

It’s been a little over a month since I have made the decision to change the way I eat, (Aug 10, 2018) and I must say, it’s bee a lot easier than I expected. I will tell you one thing this is  something that  I wish  I made the decision to do a long time ago.
